Beam Production Chain

The Beam Production Chain (BPC) is an organisational control system structure to manage parallel operation and beam transfer through the FAIR accelerator facility. It describes a ‘beam’ through the facility including the sequence and parameters of beam lines and accelerators, starting from the ion-source up to an experimental cave (e.g. APPA, CBM, Super-FRS, …). The BPC structure includes the definition of target beam parameters (set values) like, for example, isotope type, energy per nucleon, charge per nucleon, peak intensity, etc.

Beam Pattern

Several BPC are grouped to a pre-defined BeamPattern that is typically executed periodically.
